I just really want to know. What went wrong? This is for the general information of all. In the 40's, the Philippines was the most powerful and influential country in Asia. Rich in natural resources and was the most admired country, even in outside Asia territory. That's a fact. Over the years, the country was well and dominating in Asia. Japan and China were still far behind, in terms of progress and development. The Philippines was the center of learning in Asia region. Many foreigners go to the Philippines to study the technology of rice propagation and even culture farming of fishes. The peso to a dollar was only 4 pesos to a dollar.
If I can recall correctly, there was only one problem that hit the country. That is when martial law was declared by Ferdinand Marcos. Since then, the country struggled and was even down in debts to other countries, especially the United States of America. It was declared in 1972 and for 20 years that problem stayed in the country until its abolished during the presidency of Cory Aquino.
But even after the removal of martial law, the country is still in crisis. The change of power and governance did not alleviate the country's condition. In fact were number one already, not in progress but in corruption status in Asia and in the world, perhaps. After the martial law removal, many believed that things will change for the good. Yes, we did but still not much as we expected.
Every year, the country's debts to foreign countries continue to grow. The once followers, japan and China are now the most dominating country in Asia and in the world. It is like a basketball game, were after 48 minutes of ball game, the country got only 10 points. Officials in govern, elected, are robbing the country. Politicians are making money at the expense of the country. From president to president. We elect people to lead us and rob us. What's next for the country?
In the house of representatives, there you will see the elected corrupt officials of the land. Around 80 to 100 million pork barrel fund is allocated per congressman. This amount is at their disposal. if they only use the money properly we will never see a child in the streets, begging for a meal. They use government vehicles for a night they they call sessions.
It is very hard to say this, but it is true. The truth really hurts.... I am sure of that. Election is coming and many hoodlums are running for office. Filipinos have a very short memory. They forget the things that happened in the past. We don't learn from the past experiences. We still commit the same mistakes again and again. Honestly, I dream that one day this nightmare that we are in right now will all be over. I want to see the country back in it's good condition again. A dominating country in Asia.
