My cousin was operated this afternoon due to rectal swelling. The operation lasted for about a hour and a half. My cousin was given mild shot of anesthesia so that he will not feel the cutting of the swollen part. I brought some food for my aunt and a little biscuits. My cousin was still sleeping on his bed when we left the hospital. The doctor said that my cousin can be discharge from the hospital by tomorrow after the anesthesia wears out from his system.
This I know that when a patient is going to undergo an operation, he/she must not eat or drink water. Dextrose will be given to supplement the body needs. By this, the patient will not get hungry and even thirsty for water. Anesthesia worn out after couple of hours.
