AN OLD FRIEND

I have been working for nearly 8 years now. In this long, fruitful years, I have made friendship with many people. This evening, I met an old friend who used to work in the company where I am presently connected. He retired last 2005 and it's good to see him again. He now owns several businesses here in Davao City. Just to mention his beauty parlor ( he is not gay), his mango farm and piggery business, his long time lending business and more. He is now about 53 years old. We where talking about the life working and the life of a free man. Just to give you guys some background about this guy. He is the best example of a person from rugs to riches. According to sources, in 2002, his net worth was already 25 million pesos. He used to be a laborer in the public market before having all of this wealth right now. According to my friend, life working is like a chicken in a cage. A chicken in a cage is totally dependent on the master. The chicken eats what the master gives. When A chicken gets out from the cage, it hesitant to move far away from the cage. The cage is the world of the chicken. It would take around couple of days before the chicken can adjust to the free environment away from the cage. Once tasted the life of the free, the chicken will never go back again to the cage. A very simple but very fruitful words, philosophical and meaningful. It is really good to see some old friends. I love to have a conversation with then and learn from their experiences. I wish can be free chicken.
