THE EARLIER THE BETTER

I was just passing the streets when I noticed streamers of politicians hanging displaying their perfect smiling faces. I am very much aware that 2010 is an election year and with the things hanging right now means only one thing, politicians are starting to make their presence felt for the coming election. In Maguindanao area, Jojo Binay, Makati City mayor, visited some prominent families and the business communities soliciting their support for the coming election. According to one businessman who gave me this information, the mayor has already made some promises to them. In this area, election is not won by votes but how deep is your pocket and pay for the 100 support. The current administration won landslide in Mindanao because of the alleged vote buying and promise of power to the rich and influential families in Mindanao, particularly in Maguindano areas. I am not blind to these kind of tricks by politicians and wanna be politicians. The MOA-AD or the Memorandum of Agreement for Ancestral Domain is just an example of the promises made. That is why the Moro people are saying that it is a done deal with the administration. The said MOA was not materialized because of the order of the Supreme Court that the memorandum of agreement was unconstitutional and must be abolished or not recognized. Now politicians are making their promises for support. There is a rampant vote buying and vote manipulation is Maguindanao and some parts of Cotabato areas. The countdown to the election 2010 is now starting. Politicians, get ready, get set and go!
