NURSING STUDENTS

There are so many students right now taking up the nursing course in college. I know the fact that it is more in demand in foreign countries especially the U.S.A. and European countries. I heard that Japan is also looking and inviting more registered nurses to their country. The opportunity to work abroad and earn big to help their families here in the Philippines is the reason I could think off why so many students are into the course of nursing.

When I was in college, it was the school of business that dominated the number of students taking up business course. Our school has not yet offered nursing course that time. Now the nursing course has already exceeded the number of students taking up business course. In our time we were the majority and now the business course is the minority in the school where I graduated from.

One night I was standing along Quirino Avenue when I noticed so many students, in their white and neat uniforms, waiting just like me for the ride home. It was as if I was the black among the whites. Students from different schools in one location at the same time. All of them are taking up nursing. I was really out of place. Most of them were talking about their subjects and their respective teachers. Well I guess they just have to pass their board examinations to have their license and pass all the required examinations to qualify for a job abroad.

Nursing is really the hot iron at this time. As they say: strike the iron while it is still hot. Other Asian countries in the south are encouraging their youth to take up the profession because of the opportunities ahead.
